The Kangaroo Sanctuary
[content-ad-horiz-1]
The Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs, Australia is a 90-acre wildlife reserve that is dedicated to helping raise orphaned joeys. Chris ‘Brolga’ Barns has given up many of the comforts of modern life to be a “mom” to this iconic animal of the Australian outback.
“I’ve got to be Ruby’s mum,” says Barns of one his recued joeys. “For some people, they think that’s a bit strange, a bloke like me, six-foot-seven tall, being a mum to a little orphan kangaroo. But I do it because I see maybe what other people don’t see. I see that little joey as it’s clambering on my leg, that’s a call out for help.”
